Set against the stunning vistas of the Alberta Rocky Mountains, Heartland is a sprawling family drama that follows sisters Amy and Lou Fleming and their grandfather, Jack, through the highs and lows of life on a horse ranch.

In Season Four, people drift back to Heartland, craving the familiarity of home and family only to discover that everything seems to have changed. After the blush of first love in Season Three, Ty and Amy's relationship may blossom and mature, but only if they face up to a misunderstanding about what happened while they were apart. Lou is torn between her new life in Dubai and home. She's still madly in love with Peter but Dubai is not an easy place to live and she's intensely homesick. Tim will return with substantial winnings and a new love interest. As always, Jack remains the rock of Heartland, tirelessly keeping the family together through thick and thin.

Heartland Christmas - Lou's husband Peter maybe not be able to make it for Christmas and so she obsesses more than usual about making everything perfect for a traditional Christmas. But Lou's plans are altered by an anonymous call about starving and abandoned horses trapped in an avalanche. Amy of course insists that they go and check the situation out. Lou is not happy, but with Amy's assurance that they'll be back in plenty of time for Christmas, she and Ty head off on the long trek to Pike River. This does not sit well with either Grandpa Jack or Amy's father, Tim. Meanwhile, back at Heartland, Mallory's tacky Christmas decorations totally clash with Lou's tasteful and colour co-ordinated décor as they anxiously wait for their families to return home. And Caleb and Ashley discover you don't need expensive gifts to have the perfect Christmas…
